Day 6: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi: The Ultimate Experience This is the big day of the safari. After having a briefing at park headquarters, drive out with your rangers and trackers into the dense jungle of Bwindi in search of a family of gorillas. The trek can take anywhere between 2 and 6 hours, depending on the movements of gorillas, but each minute is totally worth it. At last, meeting these gentle giants, you get to spend an unforgettable hour watching mothers taking care of their babies, juveniles playing, and the mighty silverback standing over them all. This is a very deep and moving experience that one kind cannot forget in a lifetime. In the evening, enjoy the Batwa culture as they entertain you with their traditional dances, music, and stories. Accommodation: Lodge Close to Bwindi National Park. Day 7: Lake Bunyonyi: Lake of a Thousand Islands After the intensity of gorilla trekking, one heads to Lake Bunyonyi, the so-called most beautiful lake in Uganda. Nestled among rolling hills, the lake is dotted with 29 islands and equally exudes serenity nowhere else. Relax, swim, canoe, or take a boat ride around the islands while listening to their fascinating legends. Lake Bunyonyi also provides a spectacular birdwatching opportunity, with upwards of 200 bird species recorded. In the evenings, you can all get together to talk around the campfire and reminisce about your wonderful journey. Day 8: Return to Kampala or Entebbe – Departure Breakfast is served before you begin your journey back to Kampala or Entebbe. Stop at the equator crossing for some photo-taking and craft shopping along the way. Depending on your flight schedule, you may be transferred straight to Entebbe International Airport for onward travel.
